We couldn't be more honored and excited to be one of the two Black-owned breweries to spearhead Killer Mike and El-P's initiative to support and collaborate with Black-owned breweries. Spaceway Brewing Company and Proximity Brewing Company teamed up with the lyrical giants to produce this limited edition run Blacktoberfest beer, All Due Respect. Our collaboration, along with Green Bench Brewing and Beer Kulture's Never Look Back are not only phenomenal beers, but are the start of a dope initiative RTJ has put together to support festivals like ours, and the craft beer community in its entirety. Oh, and did we mention that the beer is named after one of the groups smash hit singles? It gets no iller.
All due respect to traditional strong ales, but this version was a bonified mind-blower last year. So many subtle notes of caramelized malt, deep nutty notes of molasses and the gentle earthiness of the corn grits are woven together to create one amazing beverage whose resonance -- and availability -- has stretched far beyond its initial brewing..
The artist who penned our can design goes by the name of one Matt Bailey. A close friend of Killer Mike, Matt hails from Cheltenham, England and is an illustrator and tattoo artist whose macabre black-and-white drawings have earned him more than 693,000 followers on his baileyillustration Instagram account and underground cred as a highly sought after artist and penman. Matt began drawing for himself as a child and would begin illustrating professionally in 2013. An illustrator first, he would later become and apprentice at the NR Studios IK tattoo shop in Cheltenham, UK and we are appreciative of his contribution to the All Due Respect collaboration.
