Black Brew Culture and Harlem Brew South present the first annual Blacktoberfest Beer Festival 2020! This unique and historic event is a month-long observance of Black beer and food culture culminating in a virtual and live event held on October 24th from 3-7 pm EST in Downtown, Rocky Mount, NC.
Blacktoberfest the event is a celebration of our past and present cultural connection to beer, food and entertainment and the age-old concept of circular economics. Thirty Black-owned establishments come together throughout the month of October to showcase their respective talents in this inaugural festival of craft beer and culinary excellence.
Blacktoberfest the beer is the coming together over a common love for brewing and emphasizing the importance of combining our collective talents from the grain to the glass. An annual gathering that will include dozens, then hundreds, of Black brewers as the platform grows. In year one of this historic collaboration, eight Black-owned breweries and one Black-owned distributor unite to brew a beer that is as unique in its flavor profile as it is in the brewers themselves.
Blacktoberfest as a whole is about synergy and self-sufficiency. It's where we show up for each other to inspire, create and collaborate around the business and art of craft beer. No longer waiting for others to define equity and ownership but building new systems to effect measurable change globally. It is a powerful vehicle for collaboration and community engagement with an openness to all people that love Black culture and great beer! If you are truly about promoting equality and empowerment, then we invite you to collaborate, support and celebrate with us the month of Blacktober.
Details and event times and locations will be updated until October 20th. Check back daily, and sign up for our newsletter to stay informed. Cheers!

We pride ourselves in creating artisan beers that celebrate the resilience of Black people and the great migration which inspired a global cultural movement rooted in national pride and the remigration and collaboration for the future. Brewing fearlessly and unapologetically since 2000. @harlembrewsouth
